Title: The Selection by Kiera Cass
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
Review: I am giving this book at huge five out of five stars. When I finally decided to read this series i was a little skeptical because sometimes (not often) they don’t always live up to the hype that everyone says about them. This book however did not disappoint! I just couldn’t put it down. The love triangle between American, Aspen and Maxon is developed beautifully and I can’t wait to see how that all ends up. Not going to lie I’m kind of routing for Maxon after the first book. I can’t wait to read the rest and find out what is instore for Lady America Singer. I hope she keeps standing up for what she feels is right and stays true to herself. I also hope the Prince Maxon gets taken more seriously by his father and others around him. He really seems to care about the people in his country and wants to do good, and I really want him to find love. Not going to lie but I’m still mad at Aspen for how he treated America when she was trying to do something nice for him. We will see how I feel about him as I continue the series.
